Applications

Mapping and GIS

IMC's Spherical Video System streamlines the spatial data-collection process. The seamless merging of acquired data with GPS or universal time measurements, means that for the first time geomatic engineers have a tool that gives them the complete picture. They can use it to more easily and effectively acquire, analyze, organize and share accurate spatial data in terrestrial, marine, and airborne or satellite-based environments.

IMC's Spherical Video System is unprecedented, cost-effective technology that enhances the collection and analysis of spatial data in a wide range of disciplines including:

  • Security and Surveillance
  • Urban and Land Use Planning
  • Marine Research
  • Seismology
  • Construction
  • Civil Engineering
  • Real Estate
  • Energy Resources
  • Architecture
  • Environmental Research
  • Cartography
  • Hazardous/Toxic Site Management
  • Natural Resources Management
  • Environmental Research
  • Travel and Tourism

Integration and Interactivity

The IMC Spherical Video System's omnidirectional video adds an essential new dimension to your GIS system. IMC's open architecture lets you:

  • associate immersive videos with features on a map
  • select the layers of information based on your requirements
  • drill down to get a better understanding of a place

For example, a viewer can move from a satellite map to an aerial shot to a terrestrial perspective, seeing things up, down and on all sides. An unimpeded 360-degree perspective lets the viewer virtually walk, drive or fly through an area or situation.

Storage and Distribution

Image files may be stored and distributed via any state-of-the-art commercial grade recorded media such as DVDs, hard drives and micro-drives. The final file size may be reduced using any number of standard compression technologies.

Security and Surveillance

IMC's Spherical Video System is a critical asset to homeland security. It offers real-time solutions to real world problems. Borders, airports, waterways and essential infrastructure; given today's geopolitical situation, the timely acquisition, analysis and sharing of intelligence is imperative. First responders, the military, coast guard, police, firefighters and medical personnel need to make strategic, split-second decisions in the event of natural and manmade disasters. The IMC Spherical Video System helps them quickly, accurately gather and assess multiple global views of the terrain and situation. Merging aerial photographs, 3D images and immersive videos, security planners virtually walk, drive or fly through potential emergency situations, and plan accordingly.

Developers, Architects, Planners, Engineers and Contractors

Better information leads to better decisions. Government and the private sector save time and money planning and executing development and construction projects when they use IMC's Spherical Video System. An urban planning team can start by viewing street maps and aerial photographs, but rarely is this enough information to make strategic planning decisions. Using IMC's Spherical Video System to immerse themselves in an environment, teams get a complete picture of the streets, buildings, services and transportation routes. In addition, the immersive video can be used to create a photorealistic model of proposed projects, letting decision-makers review and analyze sites from different angles, and archive the data for future reference.

GeoImmersive© videos are an asset to briefing sessions with contractors. Take roads and highways, for example. Planning teams can augment their presentations by efficiently capturing 360-degree views of proposed sites, virtually transporting everyone to the project site and walking bidders through its entire scope. They can augment maps with immersive videos to precisely communicate project specifications, simultaneously creating a pre-construction project archive. Once underway, IMC's Spherical Video System can visually document the project's status, using the information for environmental impact analysis, town hall meetings or project management. Upon completion, they can use the visual data for future projects, planned maintenance and asset management.

IMC's Spherical Video System captures a global view of every stage of a project, helping engineers and planners make better decisions

Utility Companies

Asset tracking. Resource management. Environmental impacts. IMC's Spherical Video System enables oil and gas, electricity and hydro companies to conduct research and development of facilities and deployment of distribution systems that are both environmentally responsible and economically sound. For example, a helicopter equipped with omnidirectional video capture and meta data integration capabilities provides a complete visual overview of topography, flora and fauna. This can help utility companies evaluate the impact of right-of-ways, fly-bys and distribution conduits on livestock, wild life and the natural terrain.

Environmental Research and Resources Management

On land or at sea, environmentalists, researchers, energy suppliers and lobbyists benefit from the IMC Spherical Video Systems' ability to capture and record a comprehensive global view of topography, flora and fauna. Merging visual data with pertinent metadata and databases, users may collect and assess critical information concerning a location's environmental sensitivities; from every available angle.

Mining, pipeline and mineral companies can more accurately determine the value of potential resource caches. They can better forecast the ecological consequences of development and resource extraction, monitoring post-development ecological footprints on an ongoing basis. As well, Spherical Video allows remote stakeholders to experience and assess hard-to-get to sites without leaving the boardroom

Environmental and natural heritage preservation organizations can use IMC's Spherical Video System to create a living, experiential record of critical wilderness areas.

Exploration: Geography, Geology and Seismology

IMC Spherical Video ability to capture a 360-degree visual record of an environment is invaluable to geographical and geological research, enabling researchers to better monitor environmental sensitivities and share their findings more effectively

Travel and Tourism

IMC Spherical Video immersive movie is just like being there. It offers travel and tourism professionals a new way to promote destinations, or to provide arm chair travellers with a way to visit distant locations without leaving home.
